Nichole Ratley

Our April employee spotlight is Nichole Ratley!!

Working at Tosh Farms has been a great experience, exposing her to new areas of safety. It has provided her with the opportunity to work with so many awesome, hard-working people who remind her of her own family. only provide for her family but to pass down the importance of being self-sufficient and having a good work ethic.

“As a Safety Specialist, I work with employees at all levels of the organization to reduce workplace injuries, illnesses, and incidents by implementing, monitoring, measuring, and improving our company’s safety and health program.”

Nichole has been married to her husband for almost 6 years, and they have been together for 10 years. Through him, she has a funny, beautiful, smart, and kind 13-year-old daughter, Ella. She has been in her life since she turned 4 years old. Somehow, together they also manage to have a house full of 3 beagles (Buck, Willow, and Apollo), and a British Lab (Duke).

She enjoys doing anything with her family, but she especially loves all things outdoors that they can do together like duck hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, and raising all sorts of animals (rabbits, chickens, quail, sheep, and the list continues!)

While at Tosh, Nichole has earned her master’s degree in Safety, Security, and Emergency Management through EKU. In the future, she plans to continue growing their farm by raising animals and growing the garden to not only provide for her family, but to pass down the importance of being self-sufficient and having a good work ethic.

Tosh Farms is where Nichole started her journey of learning Spanish. This has been her first experience working with employees who do not speak English. She knew she wanted to build relationships with all employees at Tosh, no matter the obstacles. She has been teaching herself how to speak Spanish since the first day she started.

“While I still need a lot more practice, I am glad that I can provide safety training and have so many great conversations with our Spanish-speaking employees.”

“Getting to see perspectives about workplace safety change, and watching employees take the next step in safety leadership is rewarding. They are taking it upon themselves to make their workplace safer and it shows that Tosh Farms is always ready and willing to rise to the expectations the safety team throws their way.”

Nichole is a force to be reckoned with and is always up for her own challenges. She does her best to make our workplaces better for our employees. She even helped start a safety team in one oof ur sow farms so that there would be an onsite first point of contact. She is dedicated and exceptional.

Thank you, Nichole, for working so hard to help keep us safe!
